Aug 2nd Batman and I went to Westinn Kennels to take the CGC test hosted by the St. Charles MO Kennel Club. It was him, a Great Pyrenees and all the rest of the dogs were Labs! He passed!!! The only hold up was on the "out for a walk" loose leash test, he stopped to look at himself in the mirror. Someone yelled "Hey there is a good look'n dog in there" everyone giggled and we went back to our "walk" Silly boy! He did great on all the other parts.

Rally

In Sadalia Batman also competed in Rally for the first time. He earned his first of three legs towards his Rally Novice title, with a score of 94 out of 100. He also came away with 4th place in his class.

For the 4th of July weekend Batman and I went to a dog show in Sedalia MO, to chase that last major. Fri was not our day, the judge didn't seem to look at him at all. But Sat judge loved him. He won Winners dog getting his last Major(3pt) Then he went back in and won Best of Winners beating 19 class Basenjis. I could not have been happier!! It had been a long hard road, and there was a time that I was not sure we could or would ever do it but every Major Reserve pushed me on.

May JC Test

In May I took Joker out to Purina Farms for his JC test. Now I was not real sure what would happen because Joker had NEVER coursed before. I let him watch a few runs and he was good to go. He took off and ran like the wind, passing both of his tests and earning his JC title.

At the April dog show in Valley Center KS they were also doing JC tests. Batman and Harley Quinn passed both tests. Earning there Junior Coursing title.

Batman's 1st Major!!!

We went to the Salina Kennel Club show in Valley Center KS the first weekend in April. It was a very nice show and good turn out for Basenjis. There were 19 class Basenjis entered. Sat Batman took Reserve yet again. But Sun he won!!! He went "Winners Dog" for a 3pt Major. Then he went back in and won "Best of Winners" and traded in his 3pt for a 4pt Major. He got his 1st Major. One down and one to go.

Pup's first B-Match

Sunday, Oct 8th was the JCKC, ACK Sanctioned B- Match and the pup's first time in the ring. We all had a great time. Andrew was there with Joker, Sarah came with Harley Quinn. Chris and Ra's rounded out the pack. I showed Ra's for Chris but the other pups were owner handled. I would also like to note this was Sarah's first time in the ring too. It was too cute seeing all the Basenji pups run'n around the ring. They all did really well for 4 month old pups. And Sarah did really well too for only having a 20 min lesson in my basement with Batman. The pups were the "live of the party" so to say. And little Ra's, who is not so little anymore, stole the show. He went over his brother and then his sister. Then he took the hound group. I am pretty sure it was between him and the Papillon for Best in Match. The judge gave the ribbon to the Papillon but then turned right to Ra's and said he was a wonderful puppy.

Also it was Jake's first time in as a Junior Handler. Jake took Batman in the ring for Juniors. He was the only Junior there but he did really well for his first time in the ring. He won Best Junior. He was really proud of himself and said he had a really good time. I think he kind of gave the judge a heart attack, the table was alittle high for him and for a second it did not look like he was going to get Batman all the way up there.

Ace and Batman both had some time off, but now that the pups are gone, it is back to the ring for both of them.

Everyone's first time back was Sept 16 & 17 in Sullivan, MO. Let's just say we were ALL a little rusty.

Sept 22-24 we were out at Purina. Saturday, Ace took it upon herself to turn our luck around when she took Best of Breed!!! Batman won his class but took Reserve to a Tri from BBE. Sunday Ace came out with BOS!!! What a weekend for Ace. I think Batman's mind was on "other" things.

Batman is headed back into the show ring next month. He took some time off to stay home and help Ace with the pups.

We have only been going to local shows and there just has not been a whole lot of competition showing up. However, he has collected 6 pts. so far and 5 Best of Breed wins! He made the cut and ended up in the top 6 in the Hound group at a Purina show in May. At Purina in June he had back to back Best of Breed wins over two professional handlers! We are looking forward to getting him back in the ring soon!

May 29th 2006, Ace gave birth to three beautiful little pups. 2 boys and a girl, all red and white. They made for a very busy summer. Be sure to look at our cute pups on the photos page.

Arkham's Roll Call

Joker's Escape from Arkham (Joker) is owned by Andrew Ryno. Who plans on using him for junior's ring and to participate in Lure Coursing.

Harley Quinn's Arkham Escape (Harley Quinn) is owned by Sarah Ryno. She is also interested in participating in Lure Coursing.

Ra's Al Ghul's Arkham Escape (Ra's) is owned by our good friend Chris. At his new house he has two Goldens to pick on!
